Friday 10th June 2011 All Hallows College hosted an international conference on 10th June entitled Mental Health, Practical Theology and Spirituality – Rediscovering Forgotten Dimensions. The conference on the convergences between spirituality or theology and psychiatry and mental health focussed on ways in which mental health practitioners can integrate spirituality into the treatment of mental health. The conference has been awarded 2 CPD points by the College of Psychiatry of Ireland. Keynote speakers were Professor Chris Cook, Chair of the Spirituality section of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and Director of the Project for Spirituality, Theology and Mental Health at Durham University, and Professor Niels Christian Hvidt, Director of the Center for Research in Faith and Health, Research Unit Health, Man and Society, in the Institute of Public Health at the University of Southern Denmark. The conference also included a variety of parallel sessions, with 14 speakers giving input throughout the day.
