Collaborative Ministry with Br Loughlan Sofield S.T.
Collaborative Ministry – Ministry within and for the Community The word Liturgy, as we know, comes from the Latin Laos, meaning ‘people’ and Ergon meaning ‘expression’. So liturgy is the expression of the people. A key element of good liturgy is community, a place where we can be warmly welcomed and welcoming, a place where the prayers, the music, the ritual, the symbolism and the power of the Word and Eucharist can be shared.
This is only one area of the big challenge that faces all Parish Pastoral Councils, which of their nature are modelled on collaborative ministry. The primary foci of the seminar is to learn from the expertise and experience of one who has encountered the peaks and pitfalls of what it means to ‘do’ collaborative ministry. As such, we will explore together the possibilities, struggles and prospects for enabling collaboration to happen in your parish.
