The Ember Teamember dl cover

The Ember Mission Team is sent out in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul to share the good news of Jesus Christ with all people and to work with them as individuals, parishes and communities as they fan into a flame the faith gifts that God has given them.

Life in our parishes has been changing; there is constant movement in almost everyone's lives. This poses challenges to us all as we try to anchor our faith in Christ, in each other and draw meaning and strength for our living as Christians in the Catholic tradition.

The Church has been experiencing the same processes of change that our society at large has seen in recent times. Our challenge in this generation is to find ways in which people of faith can bring their inspiration and genius to bear on the life and direction of the Church, locally and nationally. This is the rekindling of the embers.

The Ember Team
Key to the Church and Mission today is the importance of priests and lay people working together to build a community of faith.

The Ember Team consists of a lay director with a core group of Vincentians and lay people. Our members are drawn from All Hallows College and also from Vincentian Parishes and houses.

The Volunteer Missionary Movement

The Volunteer Missionary Movement (VMM) whose General Office is based at All Hallows College, Dublin, is a movement of International Lay Christians who share their faith, lives and skills in the service of others. Currently, VMM has 45 personnel - teachers, doctors, nurses, engineers working in Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and in Guatemala in Central America.

One of the challenges of a lay christian movement like VMM is to find a language which reflects the common vocation shared by all Christians, and to re-interpret the Gospel in the light of current realities. In partnership with All Hallows staff and students a number of challenging and innovative options can be worked out for those who would like to give a year or two of their lives in missionary work at home or abroad. All who are interested in finding out more about the work of VMM should contact us.
